VNV is looking for a full-time Land Use Carbon Expert to join our team. This position entails a firm understanding of soil carbon concepts. You will support our technical team in designing and executing our land-use programs projects that include forestry carbon and climate-smart agriculture projects. Responsibilities: Key responsibilities for the GIS Expert position include, but are not limited to: Key responsibilities for the Soil Carbon Expert position include, but are not limited to: • Build an appropriate modelling and measurement strategy for soil-carbon sequestration among small-holder farmers that could be integrated into VNV’s current program work; • Produce a strategy to incorporate additional climate-smart farming practices that increase carbon sequestration while providing short-medium term economic benefits to farmers; • Oversee execution of intervention and measurement strategy for our projects; Qualifications: • Advanced degree in soil science, environmental science, or a closely related field • 1 to 5 years of experience in agriculture with an emphasis on soil carbon dynamics of GHG fluxes, ideally in a development setting with smallholder farmers • Experience of soil carbon modelling and tracking soil carbon and associated agricultural interventions to sequester added soil carbon • Experience using a mixture of quantitative and qualitative research methods at large scales, and producing systematic reviews and meta-analyses • Strong time-management skills and schedule flexibility to accommodate multiple project deadlines and deliverables. Associate Manager - Forestry Carbon
VNV is looking for a full-time Forestry Carbon Expert to join our team. This position entails a firm understanding of forestry carbon concepts. You will work with our team to develop forestry carbon projects and aid the entire carbon cycle and assist in due diligence of potential projects. The candidate must be prepared to lead field verifications, ensure annual reporting requirements are met for all existing projects, develop the technical documents supporting the verifications; and understand the underlying statistical and growth models used to develop the projects. Responsibilities: Key responsibilities for Forestry Carbon Expert position include, but are not limited to: • Development of technical documents and carbon estimations as per technical requirements of various carbon standards • Manage field data collection of on-the-ground forest carbon data for project development and maintenance and preparation of monitoring reports for third party verification • Work with the team to develop and maintain carbon projects and manage the portfolio of existing projects including annual reporting, desk audits, and third-party verification services required for projects. • Provide strategic leadership on timing for carbon project development, reporting, initial third-party verification through the carbon project cycle. Qualifications: • Experience developing projects in A/R and REDD under various carbon standards • 3 to 8 years of experience in forestry carbon • Bachelor/master’s in Forestry, Natural Resources; or related degree • Experience in forest inventory analysis or management; with experience in carbon project management; preparation of technical documents for carbon project development and monitoring. • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel. We are searching for a motivated and experienced individual to join our dynamic team and drive our carbon sales initiatives forward.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough market research to explore and evaluate market trends and potential client opportunities, providing crucial insights to guide sales strategy decisions
- Proactively build a client portfolio by approaching potential leads and establishing strong relationships
- Identify sales opportunities by closely monitoring markets, analyzing data, and devising effective strategies for successful sales execution
- Prepare detailed analyses and project presentations that regularly update clients and stakeholders on project status
- Provide bi-monthly pricing information to clients, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of updates
- Contribute to the development of sales strategies and implement processes to achieve team goals
- Structure sell-side carbon transactions using various financial and commercial instruments
- Work closely with the legal team to draft VERPA’s of projects under execution
Job Requirements:
- 0-2 years of experience in B2B sales, business development, or similar roles involving direct client interaction; previous evidence of executed transactions is a plus.
- Excellent written and spoken English is required; proficiency in additional European languages is preferred
- Must be based in the UK/EU region
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field is required
- Flexibility for frequent travel is required
- Demonstrated commercial mindset with solid sales and negotiation skills
- Strong commitment to climate action and the betterment of underprivileged communities’ livelihoods
- Relevant experience and understanding of sustainability and environmental products is plus
- Familiarity with CRM software is plus
